does this game have any relevance to the area 51 game released in 2005?

(RaffB273) Yes it does, it starts of before that game and finishes after the events depicted in the first game. not known if any characters will return.

this whole thing need to be dumped and remade possibly by someone better with a little more knowledge about the game.

Tag Computer Mistaken[edit]

Who put a tag that it's not for pc. lol, its also gonna be released for pc . This article pretty stub. I'm trying to search info about this sequel of Area-51 although i don't have much.

Some info[edit]

Don't know if this will help much.

'BlackSite: Area 51, developed by Midway Studios Austin, is a next-generation game that will redefine the first person shooter (FPS) genre. While other FPS titles claim to feature “action-packed, highly realistic gameplay,” BlackSite: Area 51 takes next-gen gaming to an all-new level integrating cutting edge technology, game design and story writing to create the ultimate entertainment experience. The player’s modern-day emotions and fears are driven into a world charged with grave responsibility affecting lives hanging in the balance and eventually fi nding himself torn between his professional orders and his own ethical standards. In the end, only the actions of the player and his squad can shape the outcome of BlackSite: Area 51 during this potentially pivotal moment in history.

  • Your elite Special Forces squad, assembled from the fi nest soldiers in today’s military, responds to your orders and your leadership in the most realistic in-game visuals imaginable. Lead your squad well and they’ll rally behind you when the enemy brings the fight, but waver in the face of the enemy and their morale will sink accordingly, affecting their aim, their fatigue and the will to fight.
  • Players will have a wide variety of traditional online modes, such as Death- Match, Team-Death-Match and Capture-the-Flag. All-new, unique modes will also be available in the form of Human vs. Reborn mode and the new Siege mode, where teams try to capture each other’s squad members on the way to controlling territory.
  • Drive the latest military HMMWVs, ATVs and commandeer civilian vehicles, or take a seat in the gunner’s position in daring, low-level helicopter raids against enemy positions.
  • As Squad Leader, you have the power, the authority and the duty to command your troops to perform a variety of complex actions, including planting C-4, sniping an enemy in the guard tower, or taking control of various vehicles. Players will also have the ability to control all squad commands with the press of a single button, without the hassle of clunky menus and/or multiple button taps.
  • In the ultimate mission-based, player-driven FPS game, take your Squad down any one of multiple paths to solve problems and defeat enemies. Strategically use cover points and blow away others in huge levels where nearly everything you see is destructible'

Demo[edit]

I think that infomation on performance issues should be included. I don't know if this was just me but the demo i played was laggy as hell. The frame rate dropped drastically even when there was no action.

Are you on the PC? I played a demo just recently on by XBOX 360 and i had no issues whatsoever. Signed by Longshotz 12:29, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I used my 360 and it was laggy as well.Especially when there were explosions. Resto The Great 22:52, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Somebody needs to update all the info about the PS3 demo. Yes, there's a PS3 demo out now, I know because its currently on my PS3's HDD, and I've played through both portions. PowderedToastMan (talk) 23:00, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

You realise, it takes about as much time to edit the discussion page to ask someone else to add something to the article as it does to simply add it yourself. Do it yourself, lazyarse. Unreadablecharacters (talk) 03:15, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

links[edit]

This article needs more of them the only one that works is 'BlackSite: Area 51' if you type it any other way it wont work. (I don't know how too make links for pages)

'black site area 51' 'Blacksite area 51' 'blacksite area51' 'black site: area 51'blacksite: area 51' etc, etc

References/Sources[edit]

I added some things on the external link. Hope its enough. I don't know if those I placed are enough or even correctly placed. Tell me if its not enough or if what I did is wrong.

Update: Stub; This article is kinda to short for a game which already has a lot of info available. If anyone can add something, that would be helpful. Just be sure they are correct.

Is it or not a sequel?[edit]

then why does the PS2 area 51 site redirects me to the site of this game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.233.37.171 (talk) 16:22, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Some info..[edit]

I've rented the game, and what I can tell so far, you play as the said character in the demo and article, with the same squad mates as in the demo. There is an XM-8 and M4, as well as the handgun mentioned. The missile/RPG launcher is in, and there's also a shotgun-like 'Reborn' weapon. The only vehicle so far that you drive is a van and a Humvee, There's some form of conspiracy, there are Reborns as stated in the article, and these zombie-like creatures similar to the mutants in the first game.

The story is that you first see these creatures while fighting in Iraq, in an oil refinery while looking for chlorine bombs. Instead, you find some big freaky blue crystal thing that does something odd when it's touched. You and your team mates flee, leaving one behind for the creatures.

2 years later (Although the prologue states the Iraq thing happened 3 years ago, making this point in the game a year ago), You are called in to help with a situation in Nevada. The government is on the bad side of the people during a war and now there seems to be a local militia going rotten. You meet up with your old team members from Iraq, and are warned that it's because you've already experienced these creatures. You drive to Rachel, meeting more and more resistance and destruction as you go, beginning with mysterious black helicopters and escalating into full-out battles with 'Flatheads' and strange alien-like soldiers, one of which unarmed and dying is revealed to have the dog tags of a US soldier. You make your way through Rachel, meeting help in the form of locals (who all sadly die). You meet up with another squad of military, who have found the man you left behind in Iraq.

He explains that the US military has been testing on the populace to create a biological soldier/alien/whatever-it-is weapon program, starting with the homeless and escalating to US delta forces. One of your squad believes it no-doubt, but another doesn't, which causes a bit of conflict. It's decided that they shouldn't take your re-united squad mate to the higher ranking authorities.

At this point, I'm fighting through the suburbs of Rachel, fighting of zombie-mutant-reborn things.

There's an online multiplayer, I don't see anything about console-hosted multiplayer, and nothing about co-op that I can see.

Hope this helps.--97.84.204.207 (talk) 04:36, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Sequel? I don't think so.[edit]

An anon IP editor has added an unreferenced section and a sentence in the header that says that a sequel is in the works. I have to recuse myself from editing the article because until recently, I worked for Midway Studios in Austin where the game was written.

Harvey Smith hasn't worked for Midway for many months - he left abruptly after comments he made on a game review site about mismanagement of the Blacksite project - I can't imagine any circumstances under which he'd be rehired - so there is really no way he could have said that there would be a sequel. Furthermore, the studio where the sequel would have been written fired about 90% of it's staff last month. This makes a sequel all-but impossible. So, I don't know where this rumor comes from - but it's either untrue - or very, very outdated. Without some extremely convincing references - it should be reverted.

I'd do it myself - but as I said..I don't want any appearance of a WP:COI.

SteveBaker (talk) 04:21, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Well it's been a couple of months since I worked there - there is quite certainly not going to be a sequel - so I'm removing this section altogether. SteveBaker (talk) 02:16, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Someone put that section back in again - I removed it again. Midway is in a state of collapse - none of the engineers who ever worked on the game are there anymore and Midway certainly don't have the money to do this. For a 2010 release, they'd have to be working on it right now and I can tell you for 100% certainty that the building is empty and what remains of the game assets are on a server that's turned off. If you plan to put that section back in - you need REALLY solid references for the fact or I'm just going to delete it again. SteveBaker (talk) 02:05, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Error[edit]

The handgun in the game is the H&K USP TACTICAL. It is called MK.23 (referring to H&K Mark 23), but it IS the USP Tactical. Check out this link: http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Blacksite:_Area_51 and please change the wrong info. --212.108.204.4 (talk) 20:02, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

PC Multiplayer[edit]

The article states that people with the PC version have to register an account with Midway Games to play online multiplayer. This can only be done through the game's multiplayer menu, but with Midway being out of business this feature doesn't work anymore; an error message pops up saying that an account can't be created. I tried several times in the past few days to create an online account to play multiplayer but kept getting an error message. I'm assuming that the game is trying to contact a Midway-operated server, and returns an error message when it can't find one. Can anyone else confirm this? If people can't create an account to play online with the PC version because there is no way to actually create an account, then the article should be updated to say that BlackSite's online component isn't available for PC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.109.37.197 (talk) 07:08, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
